ChatFolder — Organizer for ChatGPT keeps your folders, tags and the titles and links of conversations you organize inside your own browser using Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API. It has no server.
| Data | Where |
|---|---|
| Folder and tag names; the titles and links of ChatGPT conversations you file | chrome.storage.local on this device only |
| Theme, onboarding and notice-dismissed settings | chrome.storage.local on this device only |
ChatFolder does not use Chrome sync storage. It reads conversation titles and links from the ChatGPT page only to show and file them; it does not read or store the content of your conversations.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
storage | Save your folders, tags, chat titles/links and settings on this device. |
Host access to https://chatgpt.com/* and https://chat.openai.com/* | Show the folder sidebar on ChatGPT and read conversation titles and links so you can file them. |
ChatFolder does not request activeTab, tabs, history, cookies, or any other permission, and has no keyboard command.
ChatFolder is being merged into Prompt Stash for ChatGPT. Only when you click “Send to Prompt Stash”, ChatFolder passes your folders, tags and chat titles/links directly to the Prompt Stash extension in the same browser using Chrome’s extension-to-extension messaging (externally_connectable). It goes only to Prompt Stash’s extension ID, stays on your device, and nothing goes over the internet. (What Prompt Stash then does with it is described in Prompt Stash’s own privacy policy.)
The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because it sends no data to us, we hold no personal data about any user.
If a future version changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before or with that version, and the “Last updated” date above will change.
